Consumer Therapy – New Releases (Week of 11/14/2011)

Thirdand7: Consumer Therapy. Each week we will spotlight some of the latest CD and DVD; So check out the latest installment below.

CD Releases

  • Drake: Take Care. One of my current favorite MC’s in terms of creativity and not sounding like a ignant fool. Recommended for fans of: Lil’ Wayne, Kanye West
  • Childish Gambino: Camp. Writer/Star of Community, Donald Glover throws his hat into the Hip-Hop ring with a solid debut. Recommended for fans of: Drake, Kanye West
  • Gym Class Heroes: The Papercut Chronicles II. Now that Travie McCoy is a household name thanks to Bruno Mars and “Billionaire” , he’s reuniting with the band that started it all and bringing back the pop punk/rap combo to the masses. You’ve been enamored with “Stereo Hearts” on the radio while Adam Levine sings the hook. Recommended for fans of: N*E*R*D, Bruno Mars

DVD Releases

  • Larry Crowne. I enjoy Tom Hanks, I really do. It’s no secret that his latest films haven’t been received very well by critics and the public eye. Here’s another new one that didn’t get much acclaim, but still looks decent for a Redbox night. Recommended for fans of: Back to School, You’ve Got Mail
  • Evil Dead 2 (Blu-Ray). So turns out it’s a slow week, so I wanted to spotlight this Blu-Ray debut of one of the best horror films of all time. Still cannot believe they are rebooting this franchise, but at least Sam Raimi is involved. Recommended for fans of: Evil Dead, Army of Darkness
  • Beginners. Critically acclaimed film with Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer portraying a Son/Father relationship thrown into turmoil when Dad comes out the closet. Recommended for fans of: Water for Elephants, Crazy/Stupid/Love
