Consumer Therapy – New Releases (Week of 9/5/2011)

Newly revised segment for Thirdand7: Consumer Therapy. Each week we will spotlight some of the latest CD, DVD, Book, and Video Game releases that we either enjoy or are being paid to endorse (I wish). So check out the first installment below.

CD Releases

  • The Rapture – In The Grace of Your Love. I personally enoyed their older stuff back in college, haven’t heard anything from this album yet but Entertainment Weekly likes it, so it’s probably pretty good. Recommended for fans of: MGMT, Foster the People, Cut Copy
  • The Cab- Symphony Soldier. Since purchasing this album last weekend, I have listened to it 6 times repeatedly. Catchy and poppy, they sound like Maroon 5 Jr. Mother if you are reading this, you should download from iTunes. Recommended for fans of: Maroon 5, OneRepublic,
  • Lil Wayne- Tha Carter IV. I’m not the biggest fan of hip hop, but I do enjoy the wordplay that Lil Wayne comes up. Plus if you want to be cool right now, you’re listening to Lil Wayne. Recommended for fans of: Jay Z, Drake

DVD Releases

  • X-Men: First Class. One of the best movies of the year and definately will be in my year end Top 10 list. Recommended for fans of: X-Men, 007: James Bond
  • Hanna. A very cool action thriller. Great performances from Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, and the always badass Erica Bana. Recommended for fans of: Bourne Trilogy, Salt
  • Fringe: Season Three. I stuck with the first season of Fringe, but then lost track of it with Fox shuffling it all over the place. The interest is still there and I hope to catch up one day. Per Matthew Swartz and Russell Peterson, this show is legit. Recommended for fans of: The X-Files, Lost
