I’m Going Postal on “Going Green”

With the news that Qwest Field is installing solar panels on the roof of the stadium, I decided I have had enough of the going green marketing junk.  That’s all this is, PR.

The pacific northwest uses primarily hydroelectric power for it’s electricity.  We do not burn nearly as much coal as the Midwest and same goes for nuclear power compared to the rest of the country.  We even have built wind farms and now produce too much “clean” electricity.  We produce so much addtional power, we can’t sell it all off to other states like California.

I’m not discounting the use of solar power.  It’s primary use will be in applications where utility power is not available.  Think remote cell towers in the Cascades or in Eastern Washington, where there is more…you know… sunshine…
